Welcome to my Sweat With Kayla review. I’m Barbara and I’ll share with you why I am disappointed with Kayla Itsines’ Sweat: Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Fitness Workouts app.

If you’re not familiar with Kayla, she’s an Australian personal fitness trainer who took her own experience and the success she had with her clients and turned it into a worldwide sensation: the Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide (popularly known as the BBG).

I strongly suggest you to read my original review on the Bikini Body Guide eBooks and Kayla Itsines’ BBG Workout if you’re new to her program.

The BBG is a 12-week strength-and-cardio circuit workout program (the BBG 2.0 covers weeks 13-24) which isn’t like most of those programs that promise you’ll lose a certain amount of weight per week. Instead, it’s geared toward teaching you the right exercises to do to get your body toned and in “bikini shape,” just by spending 30 minutes a day working out. There’s also a companion nutrition diet guide (the H.E.L.P. guide) with sample menus and recipes.

Recently, Kayla released a new product, the Sweat With Kayla workouts app. I know from personal experience that Kayla’s Bikini Body Guide ebooks are effective, and I’m never without my phone (yes, even when I’m working out, it’s right next to me).

So I was pretty excited – especially when I heard that the Kayla Itsines App included a new level in her program, the BBG 3.0, which had never been available anywhere before.

My first response? “Where do I sign up?!” My second response? “I have to write a Sweat With Kayla App review for my site, so I’d better take good notes!”

I did sign up, I did take detailed notes, and to be honest.. I’m disappointed with the app.

In Summary: The Sweat with Kayla App is a good looking app that’s available for iPhone/iPad/Android/Tablets, which essentially takes the BBG and lets you take it anywhere. It is available in English, French, Spanish, Italian and German language.

The foundation of the app is the same BBG 1.0 and BBG 2.0 that has been sold online in E-book form as a .pdf file. Each day’s workout automatically displays in the app to make things easy to follow, and if you’re in the middle of using the Bikini Body Guide you can choose your current week as your app starting point. However, one facet of this product that was most exciting to me: a BBG 3.0 with all-new workouts that take you past week 24.

The H.E.L.P. nutrition guide is also included in the app, and both versions of the diet guide (regular and vegetarian) are available along with daily meal plans and shopping lists. Kayla describes her app as a “lifestyle coaching platform,” and promises more content and improvements to come.

Any Sweat With Kayla reviews would be incomplete without mentioning the fact that everyone wants to know: the price. It’s a recurring subscription which costs $19.99 per month, or $54.99 per 3-month.

Please note that if you cancel your subscription, you will lose access to all of the information on the app. You will also want to know that Kayla Itsines App seven-day free trial comes with many flaws.

When you choose to signup for the seven-day trial, you will actually be charged for a full three-month membership. Although Kayla claims that the 3-month subscription fee will be refunded if you decide not to continue after the seven days trial, there are many who have complained that they have yet to receive their refunds after cancelling their trial.

The Sweat With Kayla Alternative That Worked For Me!

You have two choices if you want to workout with Kayla’s Bikini Body Guide program. You can choose to use either the Sweat With Kayla app or her original Bikini Body Guide eBooks. After trying her latest APP, I’ve decided to cancel my subscription and stick with the original BBG eBooks. If you’re wondering why – you should read this review to the end. If you can’t wait until the end of this review, then I’ll just let the comparison table below do the explanation!

The download of the app was simple, and my credit card was charged right away. I had no trouble navigating through Kayla Itsines’ app which is beautifully designed and easy to follow, and even though I was anxious to check out the BBG 3.0 I decided to start at the beginning to simulate the experience a new user would have.

I wasn’t surprised, but I was actually disappointed, to see that the app basically just took the printed version of the Bikini Body Guide and reproduced each of the workouts in order. I saw the same thing (on my small iPhone screen) that I would see if I went page by page through the original BBG 1.0 and BBG 2.0 e-books.

If you are someone new to Kayla’s BBG program, the Kayla Itsines app would be brand-new material and probably very exciting. However as a BBG veteran, I found it simply a different way to display the details of the program I’d already followed – and quite frankly, a little tougher to follow than the BBG e-book guides I’d printed out, since I had to follow directions on a small screen with the app.

That’s not to take anything away from the program itself; it’s a nice mix of different cardio workouts (HIIT and LISS), resistance workouts and rehab exercises, which only require half-an-hour a day to complete. And the nutrition guide, while not voluminous, is a big help in shaping healthy eating habits. Taken together, Kayla has built an effective way to tone muscle, build endurance and strength and create a bikini body.

But I’d already done that, and had the e-book on my tablet and the printout sitting on my desk if I ever wanted to repeat the program. I’d been hoping that Kayla would have the guides fleshed out on her app with video instruction or some other new and interesting content. They weren’t and I’m really disappointed.

So the big deal for me, as a previous user, was getting to the BBG 3.0 – virgin territory, if you will. And once again, I was disappointed. It’s not that the exercises were bad, because they weren’t. The problem was that there was very little that was new. The BBG 3.0 routines are pretty much the same as the ones from the first two guides, just put into different rotations so they seem “new.”

The bottom line: you’ll probably love the app if you’ve never tried Kayla’s original BBG guides before (although you might not love the pricing structure for the app, which I’ll get to shortly). If you’ve already done the BBG and BBG 2.0, though, you still have to pay full price for the app and will get little in return other than the convenience of carrying the workouts with you.

My Honest Reaction With Kayla Itsines App

I know I’ve used the word “disappointed” several times already, but that’s my major feeling about Kayla’s latest fitness app. Those of us who have spent some pretty decent money for the original Kayla Itsines BBG e-books have to pay exactly the same price for the app as those new to the BBG. And like I’ve mentioned above, there were almost nothing new in the APP compared to the original BBG e-books.

To add on to that, you get a lifetime copy of Kayla’s BBG e-books with a one-time payment whereas you lose access to all information if you stop subscribing to her app.

And the BBG 3.0 I had been eagerly awaiting turned out to be another disappointment. Not only was it basically recycled material, but I lost the workouts as soon as I discontinued my app subscription. Not a huge loss, to be sure, but the experience could have been so much more. Kayla is promising new material for her app as times goes along, but I can’t see staying a member for who-knows-how-long, at $19.99 a month, to find out what it is.

If I had been a new user, I think I would have been happy with Kayla Itsines app for a while, but as the charges started to add up I might have changed my tune.

After all, if you use the 80% discount link to buy Kayla Itsines original BBG e-books, you only have to pay a one-time fee of only $39.99 to get the complete Bikini Body Guide (BBG, BBG 2.0 and the HELP nutrition guide) as ebooks, and you can keep them forever. Just three months of the app costs you $54.99- $15 more than the BBG e-books – and as soon as you cancel your membership, you lose it all. To me, that’s not a very good deal.

I felt sort of guilty having to give negative feedback on Kayla’s fitness app; after all, I love Kayla and her original BBG e-book guides. However, the response from the BBG community was overwhelmingly similar to mine, with negative posts to her Facebook and Instagram accounts and negative reviews appearing all over the web. So I felt better about my feelings and my review.

My Review Conclusion

As I’ve said, this criticism is only for the Kayla Itsines APP, not the BBG program e-books itself. I think many women could benefit greatly from Kayla’s expertise and carefully-designed workout and diet guides.

I personally lost over FIFTY POUNDS within six months with Kayla’s original Bikini Body Guide eBooks. I simply think that getting them via e-book is a smarter and more rewarding way to do it.

Ans: No, they are exactly the same workout and diet plans. You can view the eBook versions on your smartphone, tablet or computer.

Q: Do you get to keep the workout and diet plans if you stop subscribing to the app?
Ans: No, I lost everything once I stop paying for the subscription. Unlike the eBook guides which is yours forever with a one-time payment.

Q: Can I access the app without an internet connection?
Ans: No, you will need an internet connection always to be able to access the app. Unlike the BBG eBooks which can be viewed without any internet connection.

Q: Is Kayla’s workout and diet plan effective?
